Today is Mother’s Day.
A day to especially honor the mother’s in our life. A day that hurts for many people, who may not have their mothers with them, including friends I know who have lost their mothers within the last few years.
It is a hard day for those who have felt neglected, abused or abandoned by their mothers.
Motherhood is often idolized. It is also a thankless job. The invisible labor. The insults of “what do you do all day?” …
Or why I love these two forms of Poetry.
If you were to ask me what my favorite style of poem is, I would answer, Free verse followed by the Haiku.
I love free verse with a passion. I’ve experimented with all the styles and it is free verse that ultimately is how I write most of my poems.
Then there is the Haiku.
I even wrote a Haiku titled “Haiku”.
It goes like this:
Haiku, Haiku. So simple, so sweet. Haiku, Haiku. So fresh, so neat.
I wrote that, in College. Now excuse me as I get over some…
They claimed they elected a new school board for us to repeal the mask mandate.
These Masks are pieces of cloth, and a small price to pay for the health of yourself and others and they’ve worked for my family and I. I will be okay with lifting it once and when the county health officials say it’s okay.
No one from out of state should dictate local politics except the Federal Government, and only on the issues they have constitutional authority to do so. Unless you are moving here, Stay in your own states, deal with your own…
I was thinking something was wrong with me. Why have I not been successful? Why am I not making money? Do I need a full formed business plan? Do I need seed funding? Do I need to have a team?
I realized that for many companies a team or co-founders were the norm. Their success maybe materialized quicker because they had someone to discuss ideas and help them through tough times. Many people are used to seeing co-founders.
I wondered what was wrong with me, that I wasn’t able to secure a partner to do this with. …
A poem for America
Look at the Eagle Soar, flying across the sky
Is she taking our dreams, to their highest heights?
Yet we feel like the worlds about to end,
And it seems like we cannot make amends.
But we are going through the refiners fire.
We are getting stronger with each trial.
And it might be hard to walk this path,
But we can, and we must keep on going,
Because our Flag is Still Flying!
We are the land of the Free. The Home of the Brave. Brothers and Sisters, in liberty. But we are hurting, And…
Yes, our election laws can be federalized, because they already are.
While the State legislatures do have power to determine the election of Senators and Representatives, Congress has power to alter them by law.
It is a poor argument that Congress doesn’t have the power to federalize elections for the federal government when Article 1 Section 4 expressly gives it.
“The Times, Places, and Manners of holding elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each state by the Legislator thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such regulations, except as…
If you get 10 claps from me, I liked your piece. 25, I really liked it. 50, you touched my heart and I feel like I found a soul sister or brother out there in the world through my screen as I read your vulnerability lighting up like fireworks.
When I get 1 clap, I see a very busy person. When I give 1 clap, it doesn’t mean I’m just okay with the peace. I’m busy too that day. I rarely give 1 clap.
Yet, What do claps really say? Why did Medium use it to show support more then…
STAR voting is an acronym that stands for Score Then Automatic Runoff.
There is a very simple reason why I’m for this: it combines the ability to rank my candidates but also rate them. It is also like approval voting, but also more expressive then that.
Certainly Ranked Choice, my previous favorite, is good but there were a few things I did not know about it.
1) I didn’t Know that spoiler votes were possible. In seeing how it can be, I just wanted something better.
The other reason?
2) Rank Choice ballots have to be centrally tabulated and need…
Just here to End the stigma by speaking my story.
My story about raising spectrum children is not just about Autism, though I have one diagnosed with it, it’s also about ADHD. I never wished for having special needs children. I wanted to be that mother who had her kids all potty trained in 3 days. Yet my Autistic child is still in pull ups. Believe me I’m trying but unless you’re me, you really cannot tell me it should be done by now.
Thankfully the school can’t force him to be trained or we are out of luck. Luckily…
